Warning road signs in Ireland

Warning signs tell you about a hazard ahead so you have time to slow down and prepare. In Ireland most are diamond shaped with a black symbol on an amber background, and they cover bends, junctions, crossings, steep hills, slippery roads, animals and much more. On the theory test you are expected to recognise the symbol and know the safe response, which is almost always to reduce speed and be ready to react. Browse the warning signs below, each with its meaning, then test yourself in a real quiz.
